Mengal vows to protect Balochistan’s resources

KHUZDAR: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) president Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said his party would never compromise on the rights of the Balochistan people and continue its struggle for the protection of the province’s resources.

He said this on Tuesday while addressing a press conference and speaking at election gatherings in Khuzdar, Naal, Firozabad and other areas of the province.

Mr Mengal held the nationalist parties that became part of past provincial governments responsible for the suffering of Balochistan’s people and accused them of being involved in the loot and plunder of the province’s resources. He alleged that the nationalist parties had worked against the interests of the province’s people.

He rejected criticism of the BNP-M over its seat adjustment agreement with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl for the general elections.

Rejecting speculations about tribal enmities in the province, Mr Mengal said he was the chief of a tribe and leader of a political party but he had no enmity with people of other tribes.

“There are political differences with other parties, but the BNP-M has always remained steadfast in its ideology,” he said, adding the party had not stopped anyone from joining other parties.
