UNHCHR report
IN its first-ever report on human rights violations in Kashmir, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recommended the establishment of an inquiry commission to look into such abuses. I fully agree with the analysis of Munir Akram, who in his column ‘Human rights and peace’ (June 24) stated that such a demand should be supported by Pakistan, and that its government must also insist that humanitarian organisations be allowed access to India-held Kashmir.
The Government of Pakistan must not delay, lest the momentum is lost and India comes up with a thousand excuses for denying access to IHK. I request that our acting prime minister take urgent action in the matter.
