PML-N-appointed members of waste management firms BoD removed

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday removed the PML-N-appointed members of board of directors (BoD) of seven waste management companies in as many major cities of Punjab.

According to electronic media reports, names of some of the members had been requested to be placed on the Exit Control List.

Those removed from the Lahore Waste Management Company included the metropolitan corporation mayor (chairman), Sheikhupura Municipal Committee Chairman Mian Amjad Lateef, Nankana Sahib Municipal Committee Chairman Chaudhry Naeem Ahmad and Kasur Municipal Committee Chairman Ayaz Ahmad Khan.

Others included the Rawalpindi municipal corporation mayor (chairman) and Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Tariq Mahmood, the Gujranwala municipal corporation mayor (chairman), deputy mayors Salman Khalid Butt and Rana Maqsood.

The Faisalabad municipal corporation mayor (chairman), deputy mayors Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and Ameen Butt and member Shumaila Chaudhry; the Multan municipal corporation mayor (chairman), deputy mayors Mian Saeed Ansari and Munawar Ehsan Qureshi; Malik Anwar Ali in Multan; Sialkot municipal corporation mayor (chairman), Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Bashir and member Nusrat Jamshaid; and the Bahawalpur municipal corporation mayor (chairman), Deputy Mayor Malik Munir Iqbal Channar and former MPA Samiullah Chaudhry were also removed.

The government appointed deputy commissioners of the seven districts as chairmen of the board of directors of these waste management companies, asking them to forward proposals for new members of the board and have them approved at the earliest.

The government also removed Lahore and Faisalabad mayors from the positions of chairmen of the board of directors of the Lahore and Faisalabad parking companies with immediate effect.

They were replaced by the deputy commissioners of their respective regions, who were asked to find new members/chairmen of the parking companies under relevant clauses of their Articles of Association, and an approval of their appointment at the earliest.
