Businessmen told to pay sales tax or face action

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has served notices on business holders in Peshawar to immediately pay sales tax on services or face action.

According to an official statement issued here on Thursday, KPRA has geared up recovery campaign and raided business outlets which are liable to pay sales tax on services, but they have failed to do so.

The KPRA enforcement team sealed the business premises on Kohat Road Peshawar for an alleged tax default on services of Rs68,177,660 under the enforcement power rules 2017, it added.

The KPRA enforcement team led by deputy collector Sharifullah also included enforcement officer, assistant collector, inspectors and other support staff.

The DG said that legal notices had also been issued to other business holders which are liable to pay sales tax on services and if they fail to comply, action would be initiated against them.

He requested all the stakeholders for voluntary compliance to avoid enforcement action and play their role for the development and self-reliance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
