HYDERABAD: PTCL strike continues
HYDERABAD, May 31: Telecommunication-related work, including telegrams’ booking, rectification of telephone line faults, correction of bills and public call offices, came to a halt on Tuesday when PTCL employees closed offices in their areas as their strike continued for the sixth day in different parts of Sindh.
Banners and black-flags were hoisted atop main PTCL buildings.
Main gates of the buildings remained closed for general public. People returned from the offices without being offered any services, especially at the Customer Services Centre on the Fatima Jinnah Road.
In the Hyderabad city, company workers held a meeting at the central telegraph office’s compound to protest against privatization of the company and non-acceptance of their character of demands.
After the meeting, the employees took out a procession which culminated at the press club.
Speaking on the occasion, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Rafiq Qureshi, Hamid Hingoro, Mohammad Azam and others vowed to continue the strike till acceptance of their demands.
NAWABSHAH: The PTCL Unions’ Action Committee continued its strike for acceptance of demands of employees and against privatization of the company.
Telephone exchanges and PTCL offices remained closed.
KHAIRPUR: Employees of the PTCL continued their strike here.
Police have been deployed at 30 telephone exchanges in different towns.
DADU: PTCL employees boycotted their work at telephone exchanges in the district.
