UN peacekeeping head to arrive next month

ISLAMABAD: The head of the United Nations peacekeeping operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, will visit Islamabad early next month to brief the government on the ongoing reforms in the UN peace and security area, specifically the UN secretary general’s ‘Action for Peace­keeping’ initiative to make peacekeeping more focused.

Mr Lacroix will hold talks with senior government, military and police officials.

Pakistan is contributing 5,996 military and police personnel to the UN peacekeeping operations.
