PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa retired Justice Dost Mohammad Khan on Friday asked the relevant authorities to ensure the speedy completion of work on all projects, including Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit.

He also ordered the purchase of ‘durable components’ for the energy sector through open bidding and said priority should be given to the capable local professionals for the execution of projects.

The chief minister was presiding over a meeting called here to review development projects funded by the Asian Development Bank.

Ministers Abdur Rauf Khan Khattak, Zafar Iqbal Bangash and Dr Sara Safdar and secretaries of the relevant departments attended the meeting, where the ADB loans for projects in the province and projects including access to clean energy programme, Bus Rapid Transit and provincial roads rehabilitation were discussed.

Retired Justice Dost Mohammad called for the linking of all foreigners’ recruitment to the transfer of technology to the country.

He asked the authorities to make efforts to enhance the capacity of productive sectors to save foreign exchange.

“We have short time and limited mandate. However, we can provide guidelines to the coming political government,” he said.

The chief minister ordered the formation of a survey team consisting of professionals and experts to balance the market demand and supply and thus, bringing down prices to the relief of the people. He also ordered the holding of a land survey in the province to ensure the use of cultivable land for agricultural purpose.

The chief minister also asked the authorities to ensure cleanliness on the BRT project’s sites and opening of roads to traffic where work has been completed.
