Social worker’s killers at large

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The police have yet to find any clue to the murderers of female poet and social worker, who was allegedly killed by the father-in-law of her sister in the jurisdiction of Kot Chhuta police on June 18 when she with her parents was traveling to their village Khanpur from Dera Ghazi Khan city.

Deceased Asia Bodla, also a social media activist, was allegedly shot dead by Sabir Husain, the father-in-law of her missing sister Aqsa.

Police say Sabir and his three accomplices intercepted the van wherein Asia and her parents were traveling, and shot at and killed her before fleeing the scene.

Kot Chhuta police have registered a murder case against the suspects.

Station House Officer Sajjad told Dawn the murder was the result of family dispute.

He said a few months earlier, Kot Chhuta police had registered a case against deceased Asia on the complaint of Sabir, who had come to the police station along with her mother Perveen Mai. He said the Gaddai police station had also registered a case against Asia on the report of her mother.

Gaddai Station House Officer Ashraf Quraishi told Dawn that on the report of her mother more than one cases were registered against Asia.

Kot Chhuta Deputy Superintendent of Police Haider told Dawn that police were conducting raids to arrest murderers.
