Social worker slain for pursuing missing sister’s case

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A social worker and local poet was murdered in the limits of Kot Chhuta Police Station on the third day of Eid, sources told Dawn.

The deceased was identified as Asia Khan Bodla, daughter of local transport owner Akbar Khan Bodla.

According to TV channel, Asia was pursuing the case of her sister Aqsa, who has been missing for the last six months, against her (Aqsa’s) in-laws.

On Monday, Asia was on her way to Khanpur in a van when four persons, including Sabir, the father-in-law of Aqsa, Asif and two unidentified masked assailants, stopped the van. They dragged Asia out of the van, opened fire on her and killed her on the spot.

District Police Officer Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said a case had been registered against the suspects with the Kot Chhuta Police Station.
