Four Dolphin men suspended for torture of two youths

LAHORE: The police authorities suspended from service four personnel of the Dolphin Squad on the complaint of torturing two young motorcyclists in the Lower Mall area here on Tuesday.

Motorcyclist Raza Gilani and his friend Mansib suffered some injuries to their faces besides other body parts after the Dolphin Squad allegedly subjected them to torture.

Some witnesses told the media that the Dolphin Squad chased them after the young men violated a traffic signal.

The victims alleged that the policemen chased, stopped and thrashed them in the presence of scores of people.

However, the Dolphin Squad officials said the youngsters were doing a wheelie.

As soon as they chased them, the cops claimed, the youngsters met with a road accident, while denying the allegations of torture.

Dolphin Squad SP Nadeem Khokhar said he had suspended Shakeel Qaiser, Saqlain Haider, Hamza Hamid and Shahid Ali from service.

He said DSP Headquarters Shahzad Awan was tasked with the inquiry.
