Abbasi Shaheed Hospital doctors, paramedics warned of action if found absent during Eid holidays

KARACHI: Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Friday warned that strict action would be taken against doctors and paramedical staff of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital who were found absent from duty during Eid holidays.

During a visit to the hospital to inspect the renovation work being done at the emergency ward, he directed the hospital administration to ensure that the doctors and paramedical staff attended to their duties during the Eid holidays.

The mayor also checked the attendance register of the hospital and made it clear that even the senior doctors and professors were not exempted from attending duty during Eid holidays.

Later, he told media that medicines had been provided to the hospital and efforts were on to make it one of the best medical facilities for people.

He said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation had also sought cooperation and assistance from other institutions for the uplift of the hospital.

Eid prayers at Polo Ground

The mayor inspected arrangements for Eid prayers at the Polo Ground, the historic park of the city, and directed the KMC officials to also make arrangements for ablution (wazu) for the people.

The mayor was informed that all arrangements had been made for the congregation.

The mayor, who was also accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, directed the KMC officials concerned to ensure cleanliness in the Polo Ground.
