He told a Press conference that the original schedule of elections had been revised in a two-day high-level meeting of the Election Commission officials last week to avoid clash with other important occasions like Assembly sessions, Id celebrations and Muharram. This, he said, was done to provide the people all possible opportunities and convenience to take part in the elections. However, he said, the electoral college whose strength had been enhanced from the existing 80,000 members to 1,20,000 by a constitutional amendment in the last session of the National Assembly, would be reconstituted by Oct 20, 1969, one month [before] the expiry of term of the present Electoral College as required by law. — Agency
