Bilal stars as Qasmi Gymkhana make AKG final

KARACHI: Bilal Irshad blasted an unbeaten half-century as Qasmi Gymkhana whipped Omar Colts by seven wickets to reach the final of the 31st Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan T20 cricket tournament at the AKG Ground here on Sunday.

Qasmi Gymkhana will meet Agha Steel in the title decider Thursday at 1:30pm.

The left-handed Bilal hoisted three sixes and hit eight boundaries and in scoring 81 from 51 deliveries while guiding his team home on the last ball of the mach in pursuit of a 216-run target.

Opener Riaz Mirani struck a whirlwind 65 from just 31 balls with six boundaries and four sixes while adding 76 for the second wicket.

Bilal then set took over in brilliant partnership of 100 with all-rounder Hasan Sardar, who contributed g 56 off 29 balls (five sixes and two sixes) before man-of-the-match Bilal ended the second semi-final by lofting left-arm spinner Danish Aziz for a six.

Earlier, Omar Colts posted a decent 215-6 after being put into bat by Abid Qasmi. Opener Fouz-ul-Hasan bludgeoned a hurricane 40-ball 80 with five sixes and six fours; Ahsan Ali hit 43 off mere 16 balls with six four and two sixes as he and Fouz added 100 for the second wicket.
