Mayor inspects road work in Orangi

KARACHI: City Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Sunday inspected an under construction road in union council 14 of Bilal Colony in Orangi Town.

After inspection he directed the engineers to ensure better standard of work.

He said no development works had been done in Orangi Town for the past 25 to 30 years. “This area is facing shortage of water and people are suffering due to this.”

He said besides construction of the road, sewerage system was also being installed in this area.

He said they were monitoring all these works.

“This city needs roads, underpasses and flyovers and parks and playgrounds,” the mayor added.

“Citizens cannot be satisfied without solving water and sewerage problems in the city. Sewerage connections from factories and houses that are falling into storm-water drains must be removed. Otherwise these storm-water drains will be overflowed during monsoon rains and can cause immense trouble to citizens. Cleaning of drains will be completed before rains.”

The mayor said sewerage system was also developed to provide some relief to the people of this area.
