Punjab forest dept disposed of 1,466 cases in a year

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Forest Department, Rawalpindi north circle, has disposed of 1,466 forest offence cases during the fiscal year 2017-18 and collected compensations and fines from offenders worth Rs12.8 million under section 68 of the Forest Act.

Rawalpindi North Circle Forest Conservator Ather Shah Khagga informed this agency that the Rawalpindi North branch deals with 280,220 acres of state forests and 789 kilometres of linear plantation in state areas and looks after their management, protection and the promotion of forests within the provisions of the Punjab Forest Act, 1927, as amended in 2016.

He said the forest damage in the Rawalpindi north circle is controlled.

He added that field staff consisting of forest guards and foresters, under the supervision of sub-divisional forest officers and range forest officers, are vigilantly performing duties around the clock.
