K-Electric gets new CEO

KARACHI: The K-Electric Board of Directors has appointed Tayyab Tareen as the chairman of the board whereas the current CFO Moonis Alvi has been given the charge of leading the company as interim CEO, a press release said.

HBL made SCO IBA member

KARACHI: Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) was granted the status of membership bank during the 14th council meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Interbank Association (SCO IBA), held between 4th to 7th June, 2018 in Beijing, China. Google faces EU fine over Android case

BRUSSELS: Google is expected to be hit with a second EU antitrust fine in mid-July for using its dominant Android mobile operating system to squeeze out rivals, three people familiar with the matter said.

The European Commission, which has been investigating the case involving the unit of Alphabet since 2015, could issue its decision in the week of July 9, although the timing might change.—Reuters

Honda, GM to make electric vehicle batteries

TOKYO: Honda Motor Co. of Japan and US automaker General Motors Co. are going to work together in developing batteries for electric vehicles, mainly for the North American market.

Both sides said on Thursday that the companies have agreed to collaborate based on GM’s next-generation battery system.—AP
