Chief justice 'invites' Musharraf to come to Pakistan and file his nomination papers

Tongue firmly in cheek (we hope), the chief justice has extended an invitation of sorts to former military ruler and current absconder from a treason case, Mr Pervez Musharraf, to come to Pakistan and file his nomination papers in person.

Directing the authorities not to arrest Musharraf upon his arrival to Pakistan, the chief justice has asked him to appear in person at the Supreme Court's Lahore registry to file his nomination papers. He has until June 13 to avail this offer.

"Pervez Musharraf Pakistan tashreef tau layain,"* the chief justice is reported to have said.

We'd very much like to see where this goes.
