17 more arrested in motorcycle scam

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, took into custody on Thursday 17 suspects in a motorcycle corruption scam.

According to NAB, 17 stockists are involved in the MNM motorcycle scam which is worth Rs10 billion. Those taken into custody are Ibtisham Anwar, Hammad Saqib, Muhammad Ali, Naeem Khalid, Imtiaz Ahmad, Abdul Majid, Jamal Farid, Abid Ali, Nasir Ali, Muhammad Gulzar, Muhammad Faisal, Muhammad Hussain and Lal Khan.

A number of teams raided different cities of Punjab while prime suspect Ahmad Sial is already in NAB custody.

So far, 25 people in the mega scam have been held.

The company would collect Rs25,000 per person to provide them with a Chinese motorcycle after 40 days or Rs40,000 for instant delivery.

The prime suspect opened his company’s branches in Punjab cities offering handsome profit to those investing in the company.

The bureau said the 17 suspects would be presented in the accountability court on Thursday for their physical remand. It said more raids were underway in other provinces to arrest their accomplices.
