THE changing climate scenario has caused temperatures to reach 44C in Karachi in May. Previously, such high temperatures were usually observed during June and July.

The 2015 heat wave in Karachi was in July. This year it has occurred too early. All these factors are owing to the climate change. Karachi is a highly polluted city with an unmanaged transport system and a was reduction in vegetation and forests.

The carbon sinks have been reduced largely. The greenhouse gases enter directly into the environment that leads to the entrapment of sun rays causing temperatures to go extremely high.
