Nasir’s lawyer cross-examines PCB witness

LAHORE: Cricketer Nasir Jamshed’s lawyer cross-examined the first witness of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the first day of the regular hearing of the 2017 Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case.

Lawyer Hasan Warraich cross-examined PCB’s legal department head Salman Naseer as the first witness of the Board.

Salman, in his reply disclosed that Mohammad Nawaz, another Pakistani cricketer, had informed in an inquiry before the PCB that Nasir contacted him in Australia with a similar offer.

Later, Nawaz, Salman said, was again approached by Nasir before the start of the PSL. Nawaz could not inform the PCB during the national team’s tour to Australia but reported about the offer when Nasir again contacted him for the PSL.

In the next hearing which is set to be held on Tuesday, another witness from PCB’s side, Col. (retd.) Azam will appear for cross-examination.

As Nasir did not name any witness for himself in this case, he will, most probably, appear before the PCB anti-corruption tribunal to defend his case through Skype.

Nasir is unable to appear personally before the tribunal because the UK National Security Agency has seized his passport, investigating him in the same case in London.
