PTI to be made accountable for ‘corruption’: MMA

TIMERGARA: Provincial president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan on Tuesday claimed the next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would make Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf accountable for alleged corruption in billion tree and schools’ solarisation projects.

Talking to journalists at Chakdara, he said PTI chief Imran Khan wanted to deceive people on his 100-day plan. He said the PTI government had failed to deliver during the last five years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Naseeb alleged that billions of rupees were embezzled in the two projects, and that the next government would take account of the wrongdoing.

DEATH SENTENCE: District and sessions judge Gauhar Rehman on Tuesday convicted a man Anwar Khan, a resident of Miskini Darra, in a murder case and awarded him death sentence under section 302 (b).

The convict had killed Gul Khan on July 18, 2017, for refusing to marry his daughter to him. The court also imposed a fine of Rs300,000 on the killer to be paid to legal heirs of the deceased.

POWER OUTAGES: Jamaat-i-Islami MPAs Izazul Mulk Afkari and Saeed Gul on Tuesday led a delegation of people from different areas of Jandol and met deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram to inform him about the grievances of locals arising out of prolonged power outages and low voltage.

The lawmakers said Pesco had been deliberately delaying the construction of Jandol grid station and the express line feeder.

The deputy commissioner called the executive engineers of Pesco construction and operations to his office, who told him that the company would start work on the express line next Monday. They said the staff shortage would also be resolved soon.

STUDENT DIES ON ROAD: A third year student identified as Hameed ur Rehman of Qila Kambat was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck at Mayar Chowk on Monday evening, police and residents said. They said the student was coming home from Timergara.

He was taken to DHQ hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Peshawar but died on the way. The police registered a case and started investigation.
