From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1968: Fifty Years Ago: Tribal areas’ master plan

ADAMKHEL (Kohat): Provincial Governor Mohammad Musa told the tribal Jirga of Adamkhel, Kohat, this morning [May 21] that President Ayub’s policy has been to bring the less-developed areas at par with more developed parts of Pakistan. He said, in pursuance of this policy the Government is giving utmost attention to the improvement of the tribal areas.

He was replying to a welcome address presented to him by Afridi tribesmen of the Kohat Pass.

The Governor said under the President’s inspiring leadership spectacular progress has been made and he was happy to know that the tribesmen were fully satisfied with the internal and external policies of the present regime.

The Governor referred to the tribal master plan. He said “under this plan a programme has been prepared to develop the tribal areas on a big scale”. This plan, he promised will make the tribal areas leap forward to the road of progress and, “Your future generations will be more prosperous, satisfied and affluent”. The Governor said a special department has been created to look after tribal affairs.
