PTU urges CJ to take notice of teachers’ extra duties

LAHORE: The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) on Saturday appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to take notice of the irregularities of extra duties assigned to the teachers other than teaching.

In a statement on Saturday, PTU Secretary General Kashif Shehzad Chaudhry and other office-barriers appealed the CJP to take notice of the education sector of the Punjab.

They said the government was introducing all the educational reforms and plans with the help of bureaucracy for the last 70 years and it never consulted the teaching community.

They said the bureaucrats were not interested in uplifting the standards of the public institutions and they never suggested any measures for uplift the institutions.

“There have been thousands of posts of teachers lying vacant in the province and they have been directed to perform extra duties,” the teachers union complained.

The teachers were being appointed as data entry operators in different areas of the province at wheat procurement centres and they were forced to perform additional duties.
