Militant awarded eight years jail

LANDI KOTAL: The political administration in Bara on Saturday handed eight-year jail along with fine to a convicted militant here.

Officials said Rabi Gul was arrested in Sept 2012 for his affiliation with a banned militant outfit in Bara and also for his involvement in a number of terrorist attacks.

He was presented before the court of assistant political agent after completion of initial investigation following his arrest. Later, the case was handed over to a local jirga where the accused consented to all his crimes.

Bara assistant political agent Asmatullah Wazir announced the verdict against him under sections 121/121 of PPC, and 11FCR, thus sentencing him to eight years jail and a imposing a penalty of Rs20,000 on him. He will undergo a further jail of three months if he fails to deposit the fine.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered ammunition from a basement in Kagga Waila area of Malakdin Khel in Bara.

Sources said forces conducted a raid on the location on a tip-off and recovered 20 4MM rocket launchers and 20 hand grenades. No arrest could be made as the place was abandoned prior to the raid.
