THE tenure track system (TTS) in vogue in developed countries was introduced in Pakistan to bring our universities up to international standards.

The selection criteria for TTS faculty, is stringent, and they form the cream of academicians and or researchers in Pakistani universities. The TTS has also helped reduce the brain drain from Pakistan.

However, it is unfortunate that the TTS faculty has no pension benefits or other allowances. On the other hand, the faculty, availing itself of the basic pay scale (BPS) salary package, has received a pay increase every year.

The Higher Education Commission should look into this matter on a priority basis.
