PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau has decided to initiate inquiry against the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar officials and others over the alleged misuse of authority.

The suspects face the charge of making appointments to the WSSP in violation of the law.

The inquiry got approval during the NAB regional board’s meeting, which was held here on Tuesday with provincial director general Farmanullah Khan in the chair.

The NAB directors, deputy prosecutor general, case officers and relevant officials attended the meeting.

In a statement issued, the NAB said another inquiry was approved against the managers of Bannu Sugar Mills Limited for allegedly misappropriating funds, illegally selling precious land and not paying salary to employees.

It said the board authorised inquiry against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company officials and others over alleged corruption and misuse of authority.

They face the charge of appointing ghost employees.

Another inquiry was authorised against the Bannu Town Municipal Administration officials and others for collecting millions of rupees from the people on the false promise of allotting shops in the Old Sabzi Mandi, Bannu. They neither allotted shops to people nor returned their money.

The board authorised an inquiry against the Peshawar-based Canal View company for beginning a housing scheme without fulfilling codal formalities and violating the Site Development Schemes, 2005.

It also approved inquiry against joint director (planning) at the Small Industrial Development Board Nauman Fayaz and others over illegal regularisation of services.

Nauman Fayaz also faces the charge of causing huge loss to the department in the biogas project and illegal allotment of plots in SIE Karak and Bannu.

The board authorised inquiry against the Peshawar revenue department’s employees and others for allegedly illegally grabbing the auqaf department’s land allocated for a graveyard in Yakatut Area Peshawar.

It alleged that most of the graveyard area was illegally occupied by influential people for residential and commercial purposes in connivance with revenue officials.

The board approved an inquiry against the Health Care Commission officials and others over the alleged illegal appointments.
