Three killed in separate incidents

TAXILA: Three persons including two women were shot dead in three incidents in district Attock on Monday, police said.

According to police, a man shot and killed his ex-wife for contracting second marriage.

The man divorced his wife in 2009 over some family dispute, and she ran a canteen in a private school to support her kids.

Her second marriage a few days ago enraged the man who shot her dead when she was returning home after work.

In the second incident, a man was found murdered in his cattle farm in Hattar area.

In the third incident, a woman was killed apparently in a highway robbery on G.T. Road in Hassanabdal.

Mubashir Khan, a resident of Buner, had stopover at a local hotel. As he was leaving the hotel, two armed men came on a motorcycle and tried to stop him on gunpoint. When she did not stop, they opened fire at them reluctantly his wife Nasreen Bibi received the bullet in her forehead and died on the spot.

Respective police have registered separate cases and handed over the bodies to their families after autopsy.

Drugs recovered

National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) on Monday recovered drugs and arrested a woman and her minor son while the main accused escaped successfully.

NH&MP sources said that acting on a tip of a car was intercepted on Islamabad- Peshawar motorway (M-1) near Burhan and during search a good quantity of narcotics comprising 53 packets including 35 packets of hashish, 16 packets of opium and two packets of heroin were recovered.

The main suspect driving the car escaped while his wife and son were arrested and handed over to Hassanabdal police for further legal action and investigation.
