KARACHI: Curtain falls on the Sindh-Balochistan boxing series at the Ustad Ali Mohammad Qambrani boxing stadium, Kakri ground, on Tuesday. The final bouts begin at 4:00pm.

Local women pugilists hogged limelight after four more stormed into the finals on the penultimate day and are likely to sweep the seven finals.

The quartet who were through to the finals incude Maria (44kg), Summaya (46kg), Azmena Soomro (48kg) and Gul Jabeen (50kg).

Balochistan earned some consolation after Fatima Humayun punched her way into the 54kg final outpointing Mubina Zahid by 2-1. Fatima’s sister Mariam lost to Gul Jabeen in the 50kg semi-finals.

The trio of Hasnain Afridi (42kg), Sajid Rasheed (50kg) and Najad (52kg), all from Sindh, sneaked into the juniors finals. However, Balochistan’s Asadullah (46kg) and Zainullah (48kg) won their respective bouts against Faizan Raza and Hamdan to propel into the finals.

Similarly, local players earned a lion’s share in the seniors category winning four more semi-finals through Wasif, Ahmed Afridi, Aqib Ali and Zubair Khan.

Balochistan’s Jalaluddin and Naved brought some respite in their camp by powering their way into 49kg and 56 kg finals.
