Kamal slams use of ‘ethnicity card’

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Syed Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said the political parties representing Karachi and other parts of Sindh used ethnicity to win votes; this had divided the nation and multiplied the problems of the people.

In a statement, he claimed that only his party had the capability to bring change to Karachi and Sindh’s politics. In the past 34 years, he said, the MQM was elected by the people of this city and the province, which ruined a generation afterwards.

“The traditional and stereotyped political forces are scared of us, as we are here to thwart their nefarious politics,” he said. “Instead of corruption and misappropriation, I as the city mayor chose to develop Karachi. This city is also home to the Sindhis, Punjabis, Hazarvis, Kashmiris, Balochis and Pathans. The ethnicity card would not work this time as the people have become aware of all such conspiracies.”
