HYDERABAD: Contractor accused of delaying work

HYDERABAD, May 23: Ten councillors of UC Jinhan Soomro, Tando Mohammad Khan, have accused the contractor of their union council Abdul Ghafoor Soomro of delaying the construction of an important road in their area which was hampering progress in the UC for the last one year.

They have sent a written complaint to the DCO and District nazim, Hyderabad and taluka Nazim Tando Mohammad Khan time and again but in vain.

Tender for the construction of a road between Middle school Dadhan and Haji Mohammad Raheem Lashari village had appeared in a newspaper on August 7, 2004, at a cost of Rs one million and it was to be completed within a period of four months.

Abdul Ghafoor Soomro was awarded the contract following a meeting between UC nazim, councillors and the contractor, who was asked to complete the work within the stipulated time.

The councillors claimed that the road in question was vital in terms of progress of the area because it would be used by the school going kids and would be helpful for promoting business activities.
