Housing scheme owner arrested

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has arrested owner of a housing scheme in Mardan for corruption and cheating public at large on the pretext of allotting plots in Zohaib Gardan, Mardan.

According to a NAB statement, the accused Amjid Ali Khan along with other co-accused persons had enticed and motivated general public through attractive advertisements to invest their money in fraudulent housing scheme Zohaib Garden at Jail Road Mardan, and Zohaib Commercial Complex in Mardan and Peshawar.

It was stated that due to attractive incentives, 105 individuals had invested in these projects. At the end the accused persons neither handed over possession of the plots to investors nor did they return the money.

It was stated that after cognizance by NAB the accused person absconded and avoided attending the inquiry proceeding. A reference of Rs62.37 million had already been filed against the accused persons in the accountability court, which is under trial.

The accountability court had declared the accused person as a proclaimed offender. The accountability court granted his 12-day physical remand to NAB custody for investigation.
