PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami has announced that it will leave the coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within few days, but will continue support of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the assembly to help it complete its tenure.

“Despite having differences of opinion on many issues, we managed to successfully run the coalition government for five years. Now JI has joined Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, it is time to end the coalition with PTI,” said JI provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan while talking to journalists here on Wednesday.

He said that the Jamaat wanted to end partnership with PTI on a good note without getting into blame-game.

He said that the JI would formally announce leaving the coalition government within next two or three days.

However, it would support the government to pass the new budget. He said that the decision regarding quitting the provincial government was not taken due to differences with PTI, but owing to some recent political developments, especially revival of MMA.

Senator Mushtaq said that MMA had not been formed in opposition of anyone and its election campaign would not be aimed against any individual or party.

“We would launch a positive and proactive election campaign. We would present our manifesto and programme before the people. Our campaign would be manifesto-centric, leadership-centric and performance-centric,” he said.
