Transgender person shot dead in Swabi

SWABI: A transvestite individual was killed in an attack by unidentified assailants in Razar tehsil here on Monday.

According to police, three other transgender persons narrowly escaped the attack carried out during the night by unknown miscreants on the abode of the transvestite persons in Shewa Adda area.

The police said a number of transgender persons were living at the house, but at the time of the attack, only four of them were present.

Soon after the incident, police reached the crime scene and found transvestite individual, Khanullah alias Shino, dead.

Police said that the residence was located in the market area that was closed at the time of the incident.

It was not known as to what was the motive behind the attack, but transgender persons in the district are regularly targeted and harassed.

Kalu Khan police took custody of the footage of the closed-circuit television cameras, which might help them in tracing out the attackers.

Colleagues of the deceased got registered an FIR against unidentified assailants. They told police that two motorcyclists entered their house at night and started firing on Shino. They said the attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.

Police said that investigation was underway and the killers would be arrested soon.
