KP CM granted bail in 2014 violence case

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Wednesday granted bail to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and former provincial information minister Shaukat Yousafzai in 2014 violence case.

Mr Khattak and Mr Yousazai appeared before the ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand.

Later, talking to mediapersons Mr Khattak denied he was involved in the violence, especially attack on the Pakistan Television (PTV) building.

“I remember that when the PTV building came under attack I was sleeping,” he said adding that none of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers attacked PTV.

He said that PTI had brought about reforms in KP’s education system and police.

He said budget for the next fiscal year should be left to the next government.

Defending use of helicopter by PTI chairman Imran Khan, Mr Khattak said that being PTI chief, Mr Khan visited different parts of the KP along with relevant ministers and advisers of the provincial government in public interest.

He dispelled the impression of any fraud in Billion Tree Tsunami and said that the media is welcomed to witness the progress and results of massive tree plantation in the province.
