Teacher gets bail in child assault case

PESHAWAR: A single-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Friday granted bail to a primary school teacher arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Charsadda district over a month ago.

Justice Qalandar Ali Khan accepted the bail petition of the suspected assaulter, Jehanzeb, a resident of Charsadda, asking him to furnish two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.

The FIR of the incident was registered at the Mandani police station on Feb 5 on the complaint of the alleged assault victim’s father.

The complainant had stated that he was a carpenter by profession.

He alleged that his two daughters, one aged six and the other three, had gone to a nearby grocery shop run by the suspect, who was also a primary school teacher.

The complainant added that his six-year-old daughter returned crying and complained that the suspect took her the nearby primary school’s building and sexually abused her.

The police had claimed that the medical examination of the girl showed that she was not assaulted and that it was an assault bid and not an assault.

The FIR of the case was registered under sections 50 and 53 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act and sections 376 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Advocate Mian Muhibullah kakakhel appeared for the petitioner and contended that his client was implicated in a fabricated case.

He added that the statements recorded by different witnesses were in conflict with each other.

The lawyer pointed out that the medical report also proved that the child was not subjected to sexual assault.

He added that the complainant’s family wanted to settled some old scores with the petitioner and therefore, they had got the latter booked in a fabricated case.
