Haris bags silver at Asian U-21 snooker

KARACHI: The pair of Haris Tahir and Mohammad Shahbaz did Pakistan proud by capturing silver and bronze, respectively in the 19th Asian under-21 snooker championship which concluded in Yangon on Saturday.

According to the results made available here, Myanmar’s Aung Phyo overpowered Haris 6-4 in the final. Phyo showed great fighting skills in winning the gruelling battle 4-93, 112-7, 58-51, 24-97, 47-69, 72-28, 44-52, 55-42, 77-24, 59-46.

Earlier on Friday evening, Haris sneaked into the final when he thumped debutant Mohammad Shahbaz 5-1 (78-20, 73-6, 70-26, 47-73, 59-19, 68-14) in the all-Pakistan semi-final.

Results:

Final: Aung Phyo (Myanmar) bt Haris Tahir 6-4 (4-93, 112-7, 58-51, 24-97, 47-69, 72-28, 44-52, 55-42, 77-24, 59-46).

Semi-final: Haris Tahir bt Mohammad Shahbaz 5-1 (78-20, 73-6, 70-26, 47-73, 59-19, 68-14).
