Inappropriate language

APROPOS your special report ‘Sexual harassment in Pakistan’ (March 20). In a year or so, some foul, sarcastic and inappropriate language has been used against the most prominent political figures, in particular, and against marginalised section of our society, the women, in general, by our politicians to disrepute and discredit women.

Amongst them, PML-N’s Khwaja Asif, also well-known for pursuing a pro-Sharif policy rather than the country’s foreign policy, called the PTI’s Shireen Mazari a tractor trolley.

Following Mr Asif’s suit, the PPP’s Khursheed Shah said women ‘fall ill if prevented from chattering’.

In addition, the PPP’s Nisar Khuhro crossed all moral limits by saying “Thari women lack expertise to attend to births”.

Another prominent figure, Maulana Fazalur Rahman of the JUI-F, was quoted to have slighted the PTI’s female politicians. The PPP’s Imdad Pitafi’s frequent jeerings at the PML-F’s Nusrat Sehar Abbassi also remind us of the plight of women legislators. The above rash, foul, sarcastic, inappropriate and immoral language against our women shows politicians’ misogynist attitude towards women legislators.
