Leaders and ads

THE Sharif brothers have been giving huge publicity to their respective governments’ performance through advertisements with their photos in the print and electronic media.

The Supreme Court took notice of this and called it pre-poll rigging since the general elections are around the corner.

The court, however, did not place a ban on advertisements but disallowed politicians’ publicity with their photos at the cost of the hard-earned money of the taxpayers.

Upon this, the wise men managed to find an alternative and got published (March 13) a big advertisement on the front page of this newspaper sponsored by I. M. Bhandara — a PML-N worker.

The colourful avertisement, with photos of the two Sharif brothers and Maryam Nawaz, profusely thanked the elder Sharif and paid rich tributes to him for laying the foundation of a ‘progressive and tolerant Pakistan’ under the banner of PML-N.

There is a saying ‘the wolf may lose its teeth but never its nature’.
