Ton-up Mubashir powers NCR CET to Bhaty T20 crown

KARACHI: Talented Mubashir Nawaz starred with a dazzling century as NCR CET College clinched the fifth Bilal Bhaty Inter school/collegiate T20 cricket title after securing a 57-run victory over Nixor College in the final at the Lawai Cricket Stadium here recently.

Nixor College, who won the second edition, were restricted to 155-7 while chasing a stiff target of 213.

Earlier, man-of-the-match Mubashir stole the show by making an even 100 from just 56 balls while striking 13 boundaries and a brace of sixes to help last year’s runners-up NCR CET College post 212-4.

Syed Ali Nasim contributed an undefeated 85 with his 42-ball knock containing 10 fours and four sixes.

Saleem Karim, the former president of the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association, was chief guest at the final with former KCCA Zone-II president Javed Ahmed Khan presided over the post-match ceremony which guests of honour Imran-ul-Haque, director Naya Nazimabad, and ex-KCCA Zone-II secretary Jamil Ahmed.

Also present on the occasion was tournament director Shahid Nawab.

Mubashir was adjudged the best batsman of the event with a tally of 312 runs, while Nixor College captain Jam Zain Ali bagged the best bowler prize after claiming 12 wickets. Zair Riaz of Karachi Grammar School won the best all-rounder award (192 runs and six wickets), while Nixor College’s Umair Tariq (252 runs and five catches) claimed player-of-the-tournament award.

Syed Kumail Ali of DHA College Whites won the best fielder prize with the emerging player prize going to Mohammad Hasan Lalpuria of Nixor College.
