MIRPURKHAS: Interrogation of several close hostel mates of 20-year-old Zehrish Ansari — who had fallen off the hostel building in the Dholanabad area of Mirpurkhas on Saturday — helped police reach the conclusion that she had committed suicide.

Police had picked up the watchman and several girl students of a private dental college for interrogation soon after Zehrish was found lying dead in a pool of blood after falling off the hostel building.

It was learnt that her peers at the hostel suggested that Zehrish had been under tremendous mental stress for some time believing that some spirits had overpowered her and were badly disturbing her in studies. They claimed that she was also under treatment of some spiritual healer and using sleeping pills.

Investigators from the Gharibabad police station had to rely on the students’ accounts when the deceased girl’s parents came from Khanpur to collect her body on Sunday and verified her friends’ version.
