‘Killer creeper’

THIS refers to the picture (Feb 28, Metro North). The picture shows the killer creeper infesting most in the green belts of the older sectors of Islamabad.

It is no pleasant ‘foliage’ that you have proudly displayed. Our family has been visiting the environment division of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to try and get them to remove this creeper as it is killing all trees. But to no avail.

On the other hand, an uproar by the ‘environmentalists’ has stopped Ataturk Avenue’s expansion because the trees were felled for work to begin. Ninety per cent of the felled trees were already dead because of this killer parasite creeper. The CDA has planted hundreds of new trees but the road work is halted.

I live on the above-mentioned road. We hear a bang every other day as accidents occur because of traffic congestion on this once peaceful road.

The authorities concerned should remove the creeper, while the environmentalists should allow the government to expand Ataturk Avenue. Above all, the parasite creeper should not be called ‘foliage’.
