Tatita, Naghmana shine on second day

ISLAMABAD: Tatita Aungusse of Thailand scored gross 2 under par with 4 birdies to reduce the lead of overnight leader Sarunchanta Rattanasin to just to two strokes on the second day of the Pakistan Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in gold category.

Other notable players of the second day were Bangladesh’s Sonia Akter and Liza Akter maintaining third and fourth place so far, respectively.

The three-day championship is being played here at the Islamabad Golf Course.

The game became challenging for the golfers as the temperature during the day got hot and strong breeze started to pick up. However, the game was enjoyed in the backdrop of Pakistan Day rehearsals and amazing air acrobats by Pakistan Air Force.

In the silver category, Naghmana Atif of KGC was leading with a score of gross 87 and followed by DSP Shahzadi Gulfam of Lahore Garrison with a score of Gross 87. In net category Marina Khan of KGC was leading with a net score of 1 over par 73 followed by Ms. Tehmina Rashid of IGC at net 8 over.

In bronze category, Farnaz Bajwa of MGGC was leading in the gross category with a score of 93 gross and second position so far was being held by Aisha Moazzam of Lahore Gymkhana with a score of 97 gross. Leading player in net was Suhung of IGC with a score of 9 under par over and so far 2nd position is a tie on 2 over par by Momina Tarar and Attia Anjum.

Earlier, the day started with flag hoisting ceremony and group photo of the participating golfers. Before the start of the game, a ceremonial inaugural shot was hit by Dr Asma Afzal Shami, the chairperson of the committee for promotion of ladies golf in Pakistan.

It is relevant to note that around 70 female golfers are participating in the event including four foreigners.
