Polio worker goes missing

ISLAMABAD: A polio worker disappeared from the capital under unexplained circumstances and a complaint lodged with the police is yet to be taken up.

Imran Farooqi said he lodged a complaint with the police over the disappearance of his younger sister. He said his sister was a polio vaccinator working in Ghauri Garden. She left her house on March 7, saying that she was going on duty.

When she did not return home in the evening, her family started searching for her but found no clue to her whereabouts.

The complainant said his father was seriously ill and admitted to Pims. He suspected that someone had abducted his sister.

Mr Farooqi said he had sought help from the police by lodging a complaint but so far received no response. “I met the police many times but their reply was not encouraging.”

But the Khanna police said they had not received any complaint over the disappearance of the woman. When asked about a receipt issued by the police complaint management centre, the police said it had been issued from the Central Police Office (CPO).

An official at the CPO said the officers were busy. “If a complaint has been lodged with the CPO it will be forwarded to the Khanna police on Monday,” he added.
