Road outside FIA opened to traffic

RAWALPINDI: Concrete barriers that had been placed outside Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters were removed on Friday and the road opened to traffic following Supreme Court orders to clear roads in the capital of concrete barriers.

The barriers placed outside FIA offices on Peshawar Mor for security reasons were removed and the Kashmir Highway service road was opened to traffic Friday night.

A senior FIA official told Dawn the barriers had been placed for security, but the road was cleared following SC orders.

He added that the office’s security had been reviewed and improved using the latest technology, describing security at FIA headquarters as foolproof.

The SC had ordered the concerned authorities to report back regarding road blockades in front of the FIA offices and the Inter-Services Intelligence office in Aabpara, as well as other offices in Islamabad.

Many Peshawar Mor residents were delighted to see the concrete blocks removed and the service road cleared, as city residents had been inconvenienced by the closing off of the service road in the name of security.
