Mansoor’s all-round show sends Zimbabwe ‘A’ to crushing defeat
Mansoor, who turns 19 in December, first bludgeoned a 99 off 81 deliveries in 113 minutes to help the tourists declare their second innings at 273 for nine before snaring six wickets for 19 runs as Zimbabwe ‘A’ were bundled out for 112 after being asked to chase a huge target of 385 on the fourth and final day.
Pakistan ‘A’, who won the first Test at the Country Club in Harare by three wickets earlier in the week, clinched the series 2-0.
In fact, Mansoor’s sparking double bettered his previous best in first-class cricket. His 99, which was embellished with 10 fours and four sixes, was only his third first-class and eclipsed his previous highest score of 64.
The leg-spinner’s six for 19 in 8.1 overs preceded his best bowling figures prior to this match – six for 26 – as the hosts succumbed to his mixtures of googlies and flippers. Mansoor finished the match with remarkable analysis of nine for 42 in 25.3 overs.
Earlier on Saturday, Zimbabwe ‘A’ conceded a first-innings lead of 111 runs when they were bowled out for 200, having resumed at Friday’s overnight score of 164 for five.
Justice Chibhabha added just five to his score of 54 before he was caught behind off paceman Mohammad Asif, who claimed three for 58 in 30 overs. Mansoor took three for 23 in 17.2 overs.
In Pakistan ‘A’s second innings, Hasan Raza, the first-innings century-maker, was the other notable batsman. The 23-year-old vice-captain hit a 74-ball 42 which included five fours and one six as his side closed the penultimate day of the match at 203 for six with Mansoor batting on 54.
