Stadium rooms demolished for CM’s public meeting

— Dawn

KASUR: A portion of the Government Postgraduate College Stadium in Pattoki has been demolished and dozens of shady trees trimmed to create room for Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s expected public meeting on Tuesday (today).

The district administration has also issued entry cards to a large number of schoolteachers and government officials to reach the venue where CM is expected to inaugurate development projects of the area.

A district administration official said trees had been trimmed for security reasons.

At least 12 rooms in the stadium were demolished on Sunday and the debris was removed overnight. The stadium over five acres was constructed in 2006.

College Principal Tahir Malik has written letters to the chief secretary and other senior officials expressing concern over demolition of stadium rooms.

PML-N leader Advocate Zaheer of Pattoki condemned ‘defacing’ of the stadium.

The district administration was holding meetings with parliamentarians of the ruling party at the DC office in Kasur and AC office in Pattoki.

An official of the DC office said that general public had been facing inconvenience for the last several days as all the officials were busy in meetings and visiting the venue to make the public meeting a success.

Kasur DC Saira Umar could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
