RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday confiscated 4,000 kg expired meat which was imported from India.

A team from the PFA visited Jamia Masjid Road and took a container carrying the meat into custody. The PFA said the meat was to be supplied to butcher shops in different parts of the city.

PFA Director (operation) Bilawal Abro said the meat was imported from India and was to be sold to citizens after a chemical process to remove its smell and change the colour.

Another team raided a fish shop where the owner was selling rotten fish and frying it in substandard oil. The team sealed the shop and dispatched samples to Lahore food a laboratory test.

The PFA also raided a grinding unit in Raja Bazaar and sealed it after recovering adulterated red chilies there.
