Modi-Trudeau ‘row’

EVER since his landing in India, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not been conferred the level of protocol deserving of a visiting head of the executive.

Mr Tredeau was not received by his Indian counterpart at the airport, who ironically enough, is famous for his burly hugs and glitzy photo shoots when he receives state dignitaries.

Modi’s twitter account too was devoid of any welcome message for Trudeau, which is very unlike Modi.

Further, during the Canadian leader’s visit to Gujrat, Modi’s home state, only district officials turned up to greet the Canadians.

I strongly feel Pakistan should invite the Canadian prime minister and his family to a visit and treat him to the traditional Pakistan hospitality and welcome.

His visit will show him — and the world — the true soft face of Pakistan. The face that saffron-hued rabid hardliners led by a tea stall owner, lose no opportunity to smear and tarnish.
