Power supply to village suspended over default

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) disconnected on Friday power supply to a village falling in the jurisdiction of Rachna Town subdivision in Ferozewala tehsil.

According to a spokesperson, the power supply to village 43 was suspended after a majority of residents failed to pay their bills amounting to Rs5.4 million for five years.

“There are around 350 houses in this village out of which 35 are fixed with electricity meters. The owners of remaining houses have been stealing electricity for long despite the fact that the company got cases lodged against them. The company has also been facing severe resistance from them for recovery of dues,” the spokesperson explained.

He said since there was no progress in recovering the defaulted Rs.5.4 million, they disconnected power supply to the whole village. However, he said, the supply would be restored after clearance of dues by the residents.
