KARACHI: The Pakistan Business Council (PBC) has proposed to develop a coherent ins­titutional framework for halal food standards.

At a round-table talks on the ‘Harmonisation of Food and Halal Standards’, organised by the PBC on Wednesday, it suggested establishing of a national food safety board to streamline the formulation of standards, developing conformity assessments, and defining the enforcement responsibilities and registration processes nationwide.
